Chicken Kalupol Curry

Chicken seasoned with a specially made spice rub of rice, coconut, tamarind, aromatic condiments and cooked in fresh coconut milk. A delicious thick curry that will tantalize those taste buds.

  • 500g chicken cut on the bone
  • 1 pack, Knorr Chicken Curry Mix
  • 40g grated coconut
  • 40g raw rice
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • ½ teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1 inch piece of pandan leaf
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Astra
  • 300ml water
  • 1 up thick coconut milk
  • Salt to taste


  • Fry raw rice and grated coconut till brown in colour, but making sure not to burn. Grind to make a powder. Set aside. Slightly roast the Knorr Chicken Curry Powder Mix to a light brown colour.
  • Melt the Astra in a pot. Add onions, garlic, green chili, pandan leaf and curry leaves till fragrant. Next add the chicken, powdered kalupol curry and roasted Knorr Chicken Curry Mix and tamarind paste. Mix well to coat.
  • Add coconut milk and water. Bring to boil until the gravy becomes thick. Season to taste and serve hot.
  • Chef’s Tip:

    Fry rice till light brown before adding grated coconut to prevent coconut getting burnt.
