Devilled Dhal with Mushrooms

A great combination of traditional dhal curry together with tempered mushroom. This double protein dish is full of nutritional goodness and taste.

  • 100gms Dhal
  • 200gms sliced mushrooms
  • 2 Knorr Cubes
  • 2 Large Onions sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic sliced finely
  • 2 Green Chilies sliced
  • 1 inch piece of Rampe Leaf
  • About 10 Curry Leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 2 tables spoon Chili Pieces
  • 20gms Astra


  • Boil the dhal in water with some turmeric and chili powder and mix in a Knorr cube at the end.
  • In another pan, add the Astra and temper the onions, garlic, green chilies, rampe and curry leaves together. Then add the sliced mushrooms and temper for about three minutes more.
  • Add the tempered mushroom mixture along with a Knorr cube to the dhal and stir through. Enjoy it hot.
  • Chef’s Tip:

    Over boiling the dhal can turn it into pulp. Add chili powder and chili flakes
