Masala Dhal curry
A popular North Indian dish, Masala Dhal curry is a rich, creamy, flavorful and mildly spicy dhal recipe. Best enjoyed with all types of Indian breads or steamed rice.

Ingredients
- 100g dhal
- 1 Knorr Chicken Cube
- 50g onions, thinly sliced
- 50g tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Astra
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 1 ½ tablespoons, chili powder
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon raw curry powder
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Rampe and curry leaves
METHOD
- Wash dhal well and add to a pot with 1 teaspoon of turmeric and 1 teaspoon of chili powder and sufficient water to boil it in. When the water has evaporated, add the Knorr Chicken Cube and stir well to dilute.
- In a separate pan, melt the Astra. Add the cumin seeds and fry till fragrant. Then, add the onions and tomato and sauté till the oil separates.
- Add the remaining ingredients into this mixture and bring to boil. Then add the cooked dhal, stir well and serve hot.

Chef’s Tip:
Make sure you do not boil the dhal in too much water, so as to retain texture of the grain.
